This week, Tauri Jay and Lex Michael close out #CinemaLit101 with a super-sized serving of Klump as they gaze upon the many faces of Eddie Murphy in THE NUTTY PROFESSOR (1996)! The guys discuss the movie's relationship to both Jerry Lewis's 1963 original and their mutual source material, "The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll & Mister Hyde", the predatory nature of the weight loss industry, the sweetness of Sherman's character and coffee sweetened with hamster droppings.

Hey Missketeers, welcome back!
This week on the show we're discussing Chi-Raq!
It's a little bit somber, but also good fun-
here's our latest installment of #CinemaLit101!
This week Tauri Jay and Lex Michael discuss the themes, performances, whimsy and harrowing relevance of Spike Lee's 2015 drama/comedy/crime/musical CHI-RAQ, based on Aristophanes' Lysistrata!

On this week's episode, #CinemaLit101 continues as Tauri Jay and Lex Michael join Idris Elba's titular policeman for the six-episode first season of modern-day cop-and-killer-cat-and-mouse crime thriller LUTHER (2010)!
The guys discuss topics including the show's relationship to its inspirations (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's SHERLOCK HOLMES stories and the television series COLUMBO), Luther's relationship to the law he ostensibly serves, how his character is explored through his personal relationships, and a LUTHER movie that will (probably) never be!

Welcome, Missketeers, to #CinemaLit101! This month we’re your classroom as we take a look at literary classics adapted to film through a cultural prism different from that of the original!
We’re kicking off the month with a look at Akira Kurosawa’s THRONE OF BLOOD (1957), a tale of vengeance, power and madness adapted from Shakespeare’s Macbeth, set in feudal Japan and featuring a staggering performance by the legendary Toshiro Mifune!
TECHNICAL NOTE: Lex’s audio has some issues in the first section of the show (before the break). We hope this won’t detract from your overall enjoyment of this episode!
